People travel by car rather than public transportation for the following reasons:
1) Perception of low cost especially for three or more people
2) Convenience
3) Flexibility in departure and arrival times, routes and stops
4) Enhanced trip experience
5) Easier luggage transport with less restriction
6) Assured transportation on arrival at the destination
7) Oppurtunity for a relaxing and private atmosphere different from everyday business
